2020 was a year most of us will never forget. Faced with a myriad of complex emotions and a fractured sense of community, 2020 IS A SONG invited people to submit one song that got them through the year along with their corresponding memory or feeling. With 1600+ unique submissions from more than 53 countries, this site proved to be a moving time capsule of personal moments and memories that were bound together through music.
As a 2021 addendum, we released limited edition mixtapes that curated songs from two of the most cited emotions of the project: Hope and Joy. The mixtapes sold out in 24 hours and all proceeds were donated to Asian Americans Advancing Justice Atlanta.
